Spiritual Care Management Network

DATE: Monthly from February - November, alternating Tuesday / Wednesday
TIME: 11:00am-12:30pm
LOCATION: Online via Zoom

The Spiritual Care Management Network (SCMN) consists of directors, managers and coordinators of spiritual care in health services and is facilitated by Spiritual Health Association staff.

We meet monthly between February and November to discuss current strategic and operational issues and opportunities for spiritual care. Sharing the experiences, innovation and advocacy journey with each other brings knowledge, encouragement and ongoing support for current and emerging leaders.

At our recent meeting on 19 April, CEO Cheryl Holmes was present and 13 Spiritual Care Managers attended from Victoria, South Australia, ACT, Queensland and Western Australia. We discussed important issues such as integration in health services, alignment to Allied Health and progress in professionalising spiritual care practitioners in health. A clear award and salary levels are currently an issue for many, as are consistent models of care and quality of service provision. It was noted that spiritual care has a very good profile in some health services: they have demonstrated their value for patients and staff and are appreciated by executive.
