SHLEAC 2022 round-up, news and vacant position

The four-member Spiritual Health Lived Experience Advisory Committee (SHLEAC) wrap up a busy year and reflect on the ways their leadership has continued to advocate for the inclusion of spiritual care in mental health care.

In late November, the four-member Spiritual Health Lived Experience Advisory Committee (SHLEAC) wrapped up a busy year and reflected on their activity and achievements, including:

  • participation in 8 committee meetings
  • participation in two online presentations to department and sector mental health workers
  • launched the Spiritual Health Lived Experience Network
  • commenced a conversation with the Director of Lived Experience at the Victorian Department of Health, Mary O’Hagan.

In addition to their commitment to SHLEAC, individual members continued to network with the sector at all levels, pursue their own studies and take up career opportunities with great success. It has been a busy and rewarding year for all.

As well as reviewing our achievements, we took the opportunity to express our appreciation and say farewell to founding member Hannah Friebel who is changing direction in 2023. Hannah’s new challenges include a Senior Consultant role at Alfred Health in a mental health women’s program, a position on VMIAC Board of Management, a part-time teaching role at Monash University and active involvement in the arts initiative; Schizy Incorporated. Both SHLEAC and SHA thank Hannah for her authentic contribution and passionate leadership in helping to shape and consolidate the place of spiritual health in the Victorian mental health reform space. We look forward to continuing our association together and sharing our mutual successes in due course.

We look forward to advancing our work in 2023 and welcoming a new committee member. SHLEAC now have a vacant position on the Advisory Committee. Expressions of Interest will be accepted until COB Friday 4 February 2023. Click here for more information.
