SHLEAC Celebrates 1st Anniversary

June 2022 marks the first-year anniversary of SHLEAC - the Spiritual Health Lived Experience Advisory Committee.

Over the past 12 months, SHLEAC has been meeting regularly, advising around lived experience representation at Spiritual Health Association and advocacy beyond.

During this time, we have:

  • developed the Vision and Statement of Purpose for SHLEAC
  • established a close-knit committee and working group
  • engaged with key stakeholders in spiritual care and mental health
  • presented on lived experience and spirituality to the Victorian Department of Health 'Lunch and Learn' presentation series, and The National Mental Health Services Conference (TheMHS).

This month we are excited to launch our National Lived Experience Network which will bring together a community of people who identify as having lived or living experience as a consumer or carer - to be involved with key events, forums, and consultancy in relation to spirituality and mental health.

Our ever-present objective is to support the expansion of spirituality, spiritual care and person-centred care in the mental health system, supporting reform from a lived experience lens. We are excited to see where our next steps will take us and invite anyone with a mental health lived experience to join our Lived Experience Network to stay connected with our ongoing work.
