SHLEAC presentation to Victorian Department of Health

Members of the Spiritual Health Lived Experience Advisory Committee (SHLEAC) presented on the topic of Spirituality, Spiritual Care and Mental Health

In April 2022, the Spiritual Health Lived Experience Advisory Committee (SHLEAC) presented to 20 members of the ‘Lunch & Learn’ hub of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Division.

The opportunity aligned to SHLEAC’s objective of influencing mental health reform in Victoria. The four SHLEAC members shared from their expert lived experience about where spirituality had and continues to be crucial to their recovery journey and personal wellbeing.

Feedback from the hour-long presentation was positive, with comments including:

  • great to hear from you and reflect on how we can consider spirituality in our work
  • such an important topic and conversation on mental wellbeing and mental health. It is an area that needs considerably more work
  • thank you for the wonderful presentation everyone.

SHLEAC’s ongoing work will include a presentation to the broader mental health cohort utilizing the Victorian Transcultural Mental Health (VTMH) Seminar series platform on Wednesday 20 July. More information via the Victorian Transcultural Mental Health website.
