‘Working Better Together: A Shared Vision for AOD and Mental Health Services’

An opportunity to offer some spiritual care to an exhausted workforce.

"Thank you for caring about us"

Spiritual Health hosted an exhibitor stall at the ‘Working Together’ conference on Monday 18 July. It was not only the first time these two industry sector groups have come together to dialogue about the challenges they face, but also the first time in over two years that sector workers were able to be physically together at an event. It was the perfect opportunity to share some of SHA’s resources with our industry partners and to get a sense of how front-line workers in these critical sectors are meeting the challenges of service provision.

SHA showcased resources including the multifaith calendar, spirituality posters, and Heart & Soul Matters guide. Resoundingly The Small Gift and Little Book of Spiritual Health were the outright favourites on the day. Fatigued workers were visibly appreciative to receive complementary copies of these resources in recognition of the long haul the last years have represented for all working healthcare.

Feedback included:

  • Spirituality is an area that is consistently overlooked in healthcare
  • Thank you for caring about us – the gift set is beautiful
  • Wow, we definitely need to know more about this (spirituality)
  • This is an area of recovery that needs more recognition. I use the Heart & Soul book all the time in my practice.
