Spiritual Health Lived Experience Advisory Committee: 2023 in Review

Working closely with the Spiritual Health Lived Experience Advisory Committee (SHLEAC) continues to be a rewarding collaboration for all involved. Through monthly committee meetings, Spiritual Health Association (SHA) has access to highly valued insights and lived wisdom into where systematic improvement could occur.

The growth in confidence and authority of all members in advocating for the recognition of spiritual health in mental health care - and more broadly - has been witnessed. Each committee member has become an inspiring ambassador for the work of SHA, developing a spiritual literacy that enables them to represent the spiritual domain in their various and broad advocacy work in the community, on government working groups, consultations and beyond.

Committee feedback includes:

  • Being with like-minded colleagues is rewarding
  • I love contributing to a collective voice that is driving evolution and change
  • Noticing how my spiritual growth has been enhanced by being a part of this movement
  • Creating resources to better articulate the integration of mental health and spiritual wellbeing
  • I am grateful for opportunity to do this work

Together in 2023 we have:

  • Participated in 8 committee meetings
  • Hosted two Network meetings with steadily growing numbers of supporters
  • Launched our SHLEAC Strategic Plan for 2023-2024
  • Bid farewell to two founding SHLEAC members & welcomed two new committee members

A big thank you and congratulations to our past and present SHLEAC team for an outstanding and productive year of work.
